Past Meetings

A Tool Story, or Two or Three by Mark Eastlick

Date: November 19, 2023

Time: 10 a.m.

Location: Stewart Hall, Harmony Museum, Harmony, PA

Our next meeting will be held at the Historic Harmony Museum - Stewart Hall.

Agenda:

  • "A Tool Story, or Two or Three" by Mark Eastlick
  • Trade and sell vintage tools.

As collectors we often ask ourselves how do we best restore the tool we have just acquired? For what purpose are we restoring a tool? Mark Eastlick, president of the Mid West Tool Collectors Association, will be making a presentation about preserving the history of a tool rather than the story being lost for all time once the current owner passes it to another one.

We encourage everyone to bring tools for sale, trade, or discussion. There are tables and chairs available. All members can display their tools on these tables or use your own table at no charge.

Settler's Cabin Park - Tomahawk Shelter

Date: June 25, 2023

Time: 10 a.m.

Location: 608 Ridge Road, Pittsburgh, PA, 15205

Our next meeting will be held at the Settler's Cabin Park - Tomahawk Shelter.

Agenda:

  • Tool restoration: Real japanning
  • Trade and sell vintage tools
  • 2023 membership dues.

In a recent discussion on tool restoration, the subject of japanning came up. Since I had a ready-made mix I decided to give it a try on an old block plane with most of its japanning worn away.

Have you japanned any of your tools? Have you chosen the Rust-Oleum way? Would you rather leave your tool intact?

Bring along any tools you would like to show, sell or trade. A few tables will be available. If you have a small table that you can bring, that may be helpful.

We will be collecting membership dues for 2023. Annual dues are $15, we accept cash or check. If you are a first timer, you are always welcome to attend a meeting to see if the club is worth joining.
